The Houston Volunteer Fire Department meets every 2nd and 4th Thursday
Time: 6:00 P.M.
Where: Fire Station located at 226 East Madison Street.

INSURANCE RATING – Class 6
  • Members are a combination of six (6) career firefighters and 20-25 volunteer firefighters.
VEHICLES

Three pumpers/ one rescue / one brush truck / one tanker.

RESPONSE COVERAGE

Approximately 58 square miles; also provide mutual and automatic aide assistance throughout Chickasaw county.

Approximately 700

TRAINING

Training ranges from Certified Firefighter, Emergency Medical Responder/Technician, Hazardous Materials Technician, Emergency Vehicle operations; a host of other fire service certifications and training.

Houston Volunteer Fire Department annually hosts Houston Fire Academy for Kids and youth ages 8-13. The Academy attendees learn about the job and equipment of a firefighter and are taught fire safety.​
